Lasch also reasserts thernvirtues of religion against the secularismrnof the new elites. Of course, the twornconcepts are by no means mutually exclusive,rnas secularism as such neitherrnprohibits nor restrains the emergence ofrnreligious or even apocalyptic visionsrnof the world.
